Quaint and cozy

Oliver and Bev were warm and welcoming. They were very accomidating for all our needs. They warmed the whole house including the towel rack in the bathroom. Their home cooked meals were delicious and very filling. I would stay here again if we go back to New Zealand.

Feels like home!

I stayed at Pam and Ollie’s place for a couple of nights in Dec and all I can say is that I did not want to leave! They’re such a sweet couple and really took great care of their guests. Clean, comfortable rooms with the all-important WiFi.

Their farm is perfect for a little getaway surrounded by farm animals and of course, the very friendly Molly. Ollie’s a great cook (as everyone else has affirmed) and I’ve now taken to adding ginger into my fruit juices after Ollie introduced it to me!

I’d recommend this place to everyone. Hope you’re both doing well!

Warm and friendly host and environment, great service!

Our family stayed at Oliver’s over Chinese New Year for three nights. Ollie could not have been a better host to us, taking special care of our needs and ensuring a comfortable stay for all of us. We were a relatively big group – my husband and I, our two toddlers, and my senior citizen parents. We took up both the bedrooms and I note that Ollie’s wife was out of town, so I’m amazed at how well he took care of both his farm animals and all of us so well, all with a smile on his face the whole weekend! He personally cooked gourmet hot breakfasts and dinners for us. You will not be disappointed with the quality of these meals. Dinner was so good on the first night (lamb leg and gravy + fresh vegetable side dishes and an amazing apple pie for dessert), that we opted not to eat out the following night and asked him to prepare another feast for us (which he did! Bacon wrapped chicken thighs…mmm).

We all enjoyed experiencing life on this farm. My mom and husband milked a goat, and my three year old got to bottle feed their baby goat every day. We got some adorable photos. Particularly, on Chinese New Year, I really wanted to take a picture of our girls with a rooster given it’s the year of the Rooster. Ollie caught a rooster for us with his bare hands not once, but twice(!) so that I could get the perfect photo. He even brought a baby chicken for my daughter to hold as well. Truly a wonderful experience for the whole family.

The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. Shower and bathroom were very clean with great bath products provided as well. The room that my parents stayed in had a nice view of the farm land.

Location wise, this is a good place to stay if you are looking for a rest stop between Christchurch and Dunedin. The only thing I will call out as a consideration is Temuka itself is a small town with not a whole lot to do if you are a tourist. That being said, if you are looking for a comfortable, family friendly place to relax and stay, this is a wonderful option for you.

Wonderful venue

We stayed here in early Jan 2017 for 2 nights. Pam and Ollie made us very welcome and it was as if we were part of their family.
I enjoyed milking the goat (first time for me!) and meeting all the animals.
We enjoyed Ollie’s amazing breakfasts and dinners, nothing is too much trouble for these wonderful hosts.
Thank you so much for making our final stay in New Zealand so enjoyable.

Just Terrific

This was a real farm experience for us. As senior citizens from NY, I can honestly say we never had the chance to milk a cow before. Well, Cam fixed that! What a treat this stay was for us.
You can not ask for better hosts. Cam and Pam are so welcoming and run a beautiful B&B on an actual farm. Our room was very comfortable with a view of the farm and animals. The amenities are upscale ( even high-end toilet paper-it does make a difference).
We were greeted with wine and snacks and lots of interesting conversation. It was my husband’s birthday and when we asked for a dinner suggestion they not only took us to a restaurant, but insisted on treating us. These are the kind of people who are hosting you.
Cam made the most spectacular breakfast for us. You wouldn’t find this plate in the most exclusive restaurant. Fresh squeezed exotic fruits juice(a meal in itself), eggs with grilled mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, bacon, sausage and the best smoked salmon I ever ate. Yogurt and berries, homemade jams and much more that I don’t even remember. All along with excellent brewed coffee. We didn’t eat again til dinner.
Then we went to visit all the farm animals. Imagine, a working farmer who takes so much time for his guests. This was an amazing experience for us. And the animals are friendly too. Especially the cat and dog who couldn’t get enough attention from us.
I was a little sick and Pam (the nurse) insisted I take her special lozenges and Vicks along with me to feel better. What special people they are. And they welcome you into their beautiful home!
Be sure to make their home a part of your trip to New Zealand! You won’t be sorry!!!

Warmest welcome, heritage homestead

Restored with loads of love and character, this homestead is gorgeous and Pam and Cam Oliver truly make you feel at home. This was our most comfy sleep all holiday. We got chatting and were learning so much about the area from our hosts that we forgot to take pics of the home and the farmyard friends (cows, calves, turkeys, chickens and goats). We’ll have to get photos next time …

A MAZ ING

With incredible hosts and beautiful surroundings our time in South Canterbury is one we will remember and we will definitely be back. I have no hesitation in recommending Pam and Olly. They were so friendly and welcoming it felt like I had been there before. Well done you two. Absolutely brilliant. Can’t thank you enough for all you did to make our stay special.

Best stay of our 30+ day long trip!

Were were greeted by Mollie the dog as we pulled in to the farm. The house, that Pam and Ollie designed and help build themselves, is incredible. It is nicer than any hotel, hostel, or B&B we stayed at the entire trip. This was our first time staying in a B&B with other people (the owners) in the same house. It was an amazing first experience! Pam and Cam made us feel right at home, and were incredible nice. We had all the privacy we wanted, but ended up talking for hours with them over dinner. We had some wine, and Cam (trained chef) made us some amazing snacks before dinner. He even printed the recipes for us to try to make at home!

We ended up helping feed the animals, and had the chance to ask a ton of questions about farming, New Zealand, politics, animals, and everything in between. We learned so much! Breakfast in the morning was a treat, and was so good and filling that we skipped lunch!

I would recommend Oliver’s Farmstay to anyone traveling on the east coast. It’s even worth going out of your way for! We loved it and plan on returning in the next few years. Thank you both for such an amazing experience!

B&B owners’ hospitality and best breakfast in NZ made our stay memorable

We stopped at Oliver’s Farm Stay B&B, which is set on 20 acres, on our way from Dunedin to Christchurch. Because it is located right on the main road, we did not have to make a detour, which was very convenient. Oliver and his wife were wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome and offered us wine, tea, fruits and home-made treats at our arrival. The room was modern, clean and comfortable, which we did not really expect on a farm. They even have a hot tub outside. In the morning, we were treated with our best breakfast in New Zealand. Freshly squeezed juices from apples, kiwi, pears, grapes etc and a delicious warm plate of perfectly cooked and tasty eggs (from the neighbor’s chickens) over fresh spinach and baked tomatoes just hit the spot.

5-Star B&B, Unique Experience With Cute Animals

My family and I spent two nights in Oliver’s Farm and it is absolutely the highlight of our 12-day travel in NZ. The house is so clean that we can’t image that it sits in a farm with all kinds of cute animals running free range. The host is an excellent chef and uses some fresh ingredients picked right from the farm to prepare delicious breakfasts. And he even makes us a special dinner just because it’s Chinese New Year’s Eve on one of the nights we stay. His freshly-baked apple-apricot pie is a must-have for all food lovers.
The farm size is perfect for us to have full interactions with the animals. The tickle-loving dog and the two cute-looking sheep give us a warm welcome right when we step out of our vehicle upon arrival. Even the two cats inside the house are friendly enough to give my wife a little pat in her back. This is the right place to stay in NZ.
